262936 - responsiveness during installation of extensions and xpi patches introduces errors

click on an .xpi there is a delay in the extension manager popping to show
download and install progress. this sometimes results in extra clicks to try and
start an installation of an .xpi

also on linux when attempting to install the latest security patch, there is no
indication of completion when the package is installed. --extension window is blank.

these are most likely two bugs that might need to be split out into separate
reports.  guessing the first on is on file, so this might only cover the later bug.

The first one is most likely an xpinstall bug since that is what initiates the
display of the confirmation dialog.

The second is due to the package being a non Extension Manager xpi that uses an
install.js... it could have used a prompt to inform the user it was complete but
however it is packaged the EM is not handed the package since it doesn't contain
an install.rdf. Also, with the landing of the new app update system security
updates are handled using .mar files and not xpi's.

Resolving -> invalid but if you'd like these issues addressed please re-open or
file new bugs against the proper products and components.
