Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10

When applying the javascript whiteSpace = 'nowrap' to long text within a
textarea tag XP attempts to report a device driver failure as it falls over and
shuts down

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add a long text document to a textarea (20k will do it - dont know the lower
limit)
2. Apply the CSS 'nowrap' attribute to a javascript trigger
(obj.body.style.whiteSpace = 'nowrap')
3. Fire the trigger

Actual Results:
XP will attempt to degrade gracefully as it falls over - may display the screen
in 640 x 480 with a warning that a device has performed an infinite loop
requesting a manual shut down. Alternatively, the OP will simply shut down.

Expected Results:
prevented the browser from performing word wrap within the textarea

The textarea tag performs a number of aberrant behaviours in firefox - this
example being by far the most dramtic I've experienced. You do seem to already
have a significant number of bug notifications to this effect. I suspect this
is an extension of a fundamental but underlying issue within the textarea behaviour.
Reporter: I was not able to reproduce this. Could you please create a testcase.

Alexander: are you still able to reproduce this with a nightly build?
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
