Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040910
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040910

After installing mozilla 1.8a4 (previous version was 1.7.3) it run once.
After closing windows XP sp2 and reboot I cannot get mozilla to start again.
Clicking on its icon gives no response whatsoever, I do not even see any
additional processes comming up in the task manager of my windows.

Mozilla 1.7.3 will run just fine. De-installing and re-installing moz 1.8.a4 did
not give any results. Moz 1.7.3 and 1.8a4 should use the same profiles, but are
installed in seperate directories.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. start moz 1.8.a4
2. nothing happens
3.

Actual Results:
none

Expected Results:
Moz should start

There are no error messages, no additional processes in the windows task manager
and there is not network activity (my Zone alarm does not mention Moz1.8a4
asking for network permission)
Summary: Mozilla 1.8a4 will not start at all → Mozilla 1.8a4 will not start at all under Windows XP sp2
Rein, I have winxpsp2 and use Mozilla trunk nightlies pretty regularly. Can you
try a recent trunk build from
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/nightly/latest-trunk/ and see if
you still have the problem?
Downloaded latest nightly, build 2004100705:
- no problems
So wfm w.r.t. this build

B.t.w.: in the forum that goes with mozillazine I read something about another
Moz user that had the same problem with 1.8a4 but could get it to work after
unplugging the adblock-plug in. As far as I know I do not use this plug-in (I do
not even know what it does). Can it be that a related plug-in might cause the
problems in my case?
