supposed you create a link which is longer than 40 charakters to a local file
the file will not be found

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
erros "File /x:/..." not found

Expected Results:
links should work

supposed you create a link which is longer than 40 charakters to a local file
- in the browser-window - and test it
- than copy it to link-properties in the composer and re-test it
in the menubar it will work
from the html-file will not work.
This is not allways reproducable for phyical drives, but allways, if the
driveletter stands for a mapped drive. funny.

(my examples:
these work from the browser only:
file:///G:/tempforall/mhtrans/sped_doc_mappen/SPEDRG_C_5012A_HVS.sxc

or, when G:/Tempforall is mapped to T:
file:///T:/mhtrans/sped_doc_mappen/SPEDRG_C_5012A_HVS.sxc

browser will not find file from links. but
shorter links will work well)
not reproducable now -
let me have a look for typos first

Product: Browser → Seamonkey
not shure about the lenght but still:
jumping to link to local EXISTING file from html will FAIL but
that very link being put to location bar OPENS

tested on firefox 1.0 and mozilla 1.7.5 windows 2000
If I have firefox opened and I trying to open a local file by double clicking it
fails in case of the following path to the file:
C:\Documents and Settings\avasechkin\My Documents\QT3 GUI Programming\qt3.htm
The browser says:
"The file <path\file> is not exists. Check if the path is given correctly and
try again."

The opening is OK using Menu->File->Open.

Tested on Firefox 1.0.4 on Win2000SP4

bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
