(dot) in username/accountname, the % goes to %25 and . (dot) goes to %2E in the saved passwordlist. I can't pic up or send e-mail with that e-mailaccount. This is in 0.8 version mayebe even in lover versions. My e-mailaccont is dennis_p%netatonce.net and demmpa%netatonce.net byt the e-mailadress is dennis_p@netatonce.net and demmpa@netatonce.net This works in Mozilla but not in Thunderbird. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. create a new e-mail account 2. in the field for 'username for incomming/outgoing e-mail' use a name with % och . (dot) 3. pick up mail for this account when it askt for password type it and save it 4. go to 'saved passwords' in preferences Actual Results: the % goes to %25 and . (dot) goes to %2E in the username for incomming/outgoing mail. Expected Results: I expected that % is alwayes is % and . (dot) is alwayes is . (dot). This works in Mozilla but not in Thunderbird.

No, neither TB nor Mozilla uses the username stored in the password manager. See bug 253439 and my reply there. I didn't dupe this bug since you mention, you only see this in TB but not in Mozilla. But it could be very helpful if you create a log (as explained in the other bug) here. If possible for both clients to compare them.

was this a pop3 or imap server? I tried it with IMAP, and didn't have a problem.

I was having the same problem using Thunderbird 1.0 and a gmail account with pop access that had a dot in the username. I contacted gmail and let them know that I was having this problem and they said they would look into it. Suddenly Thunderbird started sending and receiving my gmail without my changing anything, so I am thinking that this is not really a bug with Thunderbird but a setting that the email provider can change?? sheltongenie@yahoo.com

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. I am experiencing this problem with downloading e-mail from a Yahoo.com address that has a dot in the username. Could someone please reopen this? My privilege to do so seems to have disappeared.

I have tested with thunderbird-2.0.0.19-1.el5 On RHEL5.2 thunderbird-2.0.0.18-1.fc10.i386 on f10 and Thunderbird 2.0.0.18 on Window. the Gmail pop account can't not set up if the username contain the dot. After input the password I got an alert: Alert: Sending of password did not succeed . Mail server pop.gmail.com respond: Username and password not accepted. but the Gmail IMAP account can be set up successfully.
