Past of images into the message works only if I manually make my message format->RichText and not with Auto-Detect selected.

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3 If you compose a message and paste a screenshot or image into the message. When you send the mail the image disappears. If you manually change each message from Auto-detect to Rich Text (HTML only) from the Options menu, Format submenu then the image is properly sent. How can someone change the default from Auto-detect to Rich Text HTML? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.create new message 2.paste an image from clipboard (PrntScr your desktop) 3.send the mail which shows the image 4. check the sent folder and your mail is 1KB long and no image is present 5. now repeat from step 1 but change the format of your message (options-Format-Rich Text) 6. send the message. 7. check the sent folder and your message is properly sent with the image. Actual Results: You have to manually change the FORMAT type for each new message from Auto-detect to Rich Text (HTML) Only Expected Results: With Auto-detect it should have recognized the paste command of an image and change the format automatically. Or it should allow to setup a specific format as Default rather then using Auto-format! To make this work you should be sure not to select Text messages only in the preferences of the e-mail but leave HTML as default message type.

Another workaround is to make sure all recipients are listed in your address book as "prefers HTML." *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 180997 ***

(In reply to comment #1) > Another workaround is to make sure all recipients are listed in your address > book as "prefers HTML." > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 180997 *** Yes but is there a way to simply set a "check box" to the preferred option from Auto-Format to Rich Text (HTML only) so that this choice is "remembered" for any new message? This would allow to use formatting and images as default...

This would allow to use formatting and images as default... No, there isn't, and it's unlikely there will be one. See bug 44494, bug 246758 for the planned alternative approaches.
