(please reassign component at will. This is more of a Netcenter bug than anything) The current SmartUpdate CGI says my "platform" is not compatible with it. Not that my browser build won't work. To reproduce: 1) Fire up M13, and go to: http://cgi.netscape.com/cgi-bin/su/su1.cgi results: Bogus error message from SmartUpdate CGI (p.s. there is also a typo): Your computer's platform is not compatible with SmartUpdate To use SmartUpdate to manage your software components, you must be using a computer with one of the followingoperating systems: Windows 95/98 Windows NT Windows 3.1 Macintosh PPC
Changed summary message to identify culprit(s)
Summary: SmartUpdate incorrectly identifies M13 Mozilla build → Netcenter SmartUpdate page incorrectly identifies Mozilla
Since I doubt Bruce uses bugzilla I'll reassign to Michael LaGuardia for tracking.

created internal bug on the SmartUpdate page: 384320 The default information above says Win98, is that correct? I had no problems getting into the site with a Win NT version. In fact it even used Mozilla-style triggers correctly, though it let me try to install all the incompatible 4.x stuff. Were you using a Mac instead?
Nope. Win98SE. Macs suck :) (so does Win98, but...)
forwarding this bug to Bruce.

As this is a bug with the page and it has already been filed on the internal bug tracking system that the website guys use, I'm closing this bug as invalid.

Verified using old M13 build, Current verbiage: "Your current version is Communicator 5.0 - 56 bit encryption. Congratulations, you already have the latest Netscape browser software." Smartupdate sniffs my client as the following: "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; N; Win98; en-US) Mozilla/m13, version=null" NOTE: "version" is typically the build id, which SU uses to verify incompatibilities, sniff out respins and generally make SU easier for Netcenter to QA. Might want to give Bruce a heads-up. -jim race
