User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 Upon opening TB and downloading, I see the following: Connecting to Cox.net at the bottom of the screen The activity widgit keeps rolling, but when I move the mouse, the "connecting to..." disappears. The stop button is not ghosted, but pressing it does nothing. Restarting the program lets me try again, but same result each time. This is similar, but not the same frequently submitted bug where it hangs while downloading the first (spam) message. Deleting all messages from the server does not solve the problem. I had this problem before in Mozilla, and changed to TB because of it. Problem solved, until now. Upgrading to 10.x did not help. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start TB 2. Click "check mail" Actual Results: Connecting to Cox.net at the bottom of the screen. The activity widgit keeps rolling, but when I move the mouse, the "connecting to..." disappears. Expected Results: Downloaded messages.

what version of thunderbird are you using? If it's the original .8 build, could you try a more recent .8 build, since there was a server bug with some servers that we've worked around in more recent .8 aviary branch builds

(In reply to comment #1) > what version of thunderbird are you using? No change.
This has also happened recently to me. I'd downloaded TB release on 1/20/04 and connected with pop3 frontiernet on a win98se machine. Same problem as previous writer resulted. Possibly of interest: I've a running TB, version 1.0 (20041206) which is currently working with same pop3 server.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
