Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) Build Identifier: Thunderbird 0.8.0 Try to install any version of Thunderbird and right at the end of the install process I received the following error message 'Error occurred during installation - Mozilla Thunderbird Mail: 5' It seems only isolated to my home PC as it works fine on my work PC. Home PC is 2.4 Celeron running Win XP SP1. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Choose custom install 2. Change install path to 'K:\Program Files\Thunderbird' 3. Click next until installation underway Actual Results: I received an error message 'Error occurred during installation - Mozilla Thunderbird Mail: 5' Expected Results: Install without error
I have tried 6 downloads (using the firefox browser/download manager) of the thunderbird mail client. Each time I received unspecified error, or it simply would not initialise through the install (I would also fully remove the EXE before dl'ing a new one). The Firefox Broswer is *FANTASTIC*, so I am very curious about the mail client now. Please let me know when/if I can actually have a successful download/install available, or if there is a patch (or ?? other ??) (good job guys - love this....IE is goin downnnnnnnnnnn they be fubar ;)) *vbeg* }=) Heidi

You should look at Bug 276515 Installer quickly and silently crashes on an old Windows NT 4.0 box There are some more people having problems. Workaround is installing from zip, means, download a zip-file and unzip it, and make a shortcut to firefox.exe or thunderbird.exe so you don´t always have to search the file.
