first start of firefox is very slow

just the first start of firefox is very slow. It takes about 10 or more seconds 
if the browser starts.

It is a complex application, it might take some time to load if your PC is slow.

However, defragging your hard drive might help.

also as you noticed, it does more work on first run, which is cached, so it's
faster subsequently. nothing to be done here w/o specifics. 10s first run sounds
expected on a machine of win98 vintage. v
