User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040916 Firefox/0.10
Build Identifier: Thunderbird 0.8 (20040917)

When browsing through mail, there are certain times when Thunderbird
automatically previews the next message, such as deleting the current message or
pressing space when the preview of the current message is at its end. If the
next message is marked as junk mail, Thunderbird displays it. It ought to go
out of its way to avoid junk mail, skip over that message and go to the next
message not marked as junk.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Highlight and preview a message immediately preceding one marked as junk
2.Cause Thunderbird to go to the next message (hit delete, press space until the
preview is complete, etc.)

Actual Results:
Thunderbird selects and previews that following message marked as junk

Expected Results:
Thunderbird should skip over the message marked as junk and select and preview
the next message not marked as junk instead.
I'd just like to add that this bug report ignores certain things. Prime amongst
these is what to do when you proceed past the last non-junk message. Should it
ask to go to the next mailbox like it would do now? Should it ask if it should
start previewing junk? Should it give an option?

Also, should it mark those skipped messages as read? I don't think so, but it's
certainly debatable.

What happens if you unjunk a skipped message? Should it go back to that message
on the next proceeding or just ignore it as if you skipped over it manually?
Seamonkey bug 262636.

Thunderbird should have an option to allow me to select and delete messages
without opening them for display in the preview pane. I think opening messages
unnecessarily may pose a security risk now or in the future. One way to do it
would be to have a select checkbox on the left side of each line in the message
list. clicking the checkbox (drag for multiple select would be nice) and
pressing delete would eliminate them without opening them in the preview pane.
clicking on the list entry itself (i.e. on the Subject text) would open it in
the preview pane, double-clicking would open it in a separate window, etc.
A possibility could be, to prevent TB from displaying the mail (at preview and window) with a button to do it anyway (like it is with scum and spam suspects).
