EML files are OK, but on Windoze they default to being Outlook Express files which is annoying (and dangerous?) if I double click them to open them. I would love to see (1) the ability to save multiple messages as individual .eml files (2) save multiple emails as one plain text file (with HTML formatting removed not like .eml files) but key components of the header intact. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select multiple messages 2. Goto File menu, Save As.. File (greyed out) 3. Expected Results: If I select multiple files, I should be be able to goto the file menu and Save as .eml's or a single plain text file.
I second that.

I third that. (BTW, I could do this with KMAIL:...) I need to do a "multiple select" in a folder, and save all the selections INTO ONE SINGLE FILE, preferably a TEXT file. In the folder I'm refering to, I get automatically generated data reports, and I use various scripting on these grouped files to sed|grep|sort|etc, the info that I need. If I get 168 OF THESE FILE IN A WEEK (one per hour!) there is NO WAY that I can sit here and "R.H.C.|Save As|Files of type|<select text format>|Save" on every file! I wouldn't be able to leave my computer! My machine is : Firefox 1.0.6 on Linux 2.4.20-8 #1 Thu Mar 13 17:54:28 EST 2003 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Either that, or fix bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=222289 which would allow me to do much the same thing.
I would also like to see this feature a lot. I used to love it in Netscape 4.x as I could archive my emails to a text file month by month.. :)
Summary: Mulitple message Save As text format → Multiple message Save As text format
I would love to be able to select multiple messages and save the raw messages to a text file. I think that the following "save" options could be available when one or more messages are selected in the folder pane, or when a folder containing messages is selected, in which case process all messages in that folder and optionally in subfolders, maybe storing a preference for that at the individual folder level. attachments, raw, text, html attachments - saves all attachments in selected messages to a single directory, renaming sensibly (add a digit on the end of the filename) if duplicate names encountered raw - plain ascii mail file with full headers and all encoded content and attachments text - message text with limited headers (from, to, date, subject), either ignore any attachments, or better, list them on a line "attachments: blah blah" after the headers and before message text html - indexed html file including any formatting, with headers as the text option, but at the top of the file is a list one per line of from, to, date, subject that acts as a clickable index into the file - obviously don't create the index if only one message, and include links to attachments - create an associated directory like firefox does to contain images etc when you save a web page

Three years and a half gone by for a basic functionality. Even just appending each selected mail to the previous one seems a really hard task... :(
