From some version of the Thunderbird, probably also for the Mozilla Suite, the
sort order for date is inconsistent with convention of the Windows and most of
the OSes out there.
There is a little triangle. With the wider side up, it means that newer date
will be listed at the top, because the number for the newer date is greater than
that for the old one.
However with some version of the Thunderbird, it was reversed.
The latest version also has this problem.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Retrieve many email messages with different time of delivery
2. Sort by Date
3. Check if the rectangle is consistent with the convention of your OS.
Actual Results:
Older one first when the wider lateral of a triangle is on the upside.
Expected Results:
Be consistent with the convention of the OS.

This attachment shows how it is sorted with the Outlook.
Compare this result with the previous screenshot which was taken from the
Thunderbird.

we've always done it this way, for 10 years or so...and this is the first time I
can remember someone complaining. I'm not sure if changing it would just cause
more confusion at this point.
