Crash Data
This is a topcrasher for Firefox 1.0 PR1. User comments are scattered across
many sites and I have yet to find a way to reproduce this crash, but enough
people are seeing it to justify a closer look. Not sure if this is a true
layout bug, so please reset the component if necessary.

Although I haven't seen the crash yet, I have noticed that a few of the comments
mention seeing missing plugins on the page. A fairly large number of urls
reported include both gmail.com and google.com.
I also experienced some sort of memory leak while browsing through a number of
sites mentioned in the reports... I had about 10 tabs opened to various sites
and firefox.exe was using up about 200 MB of system memory when the app just
hung and I had to kill the process. Have not been able to narrow down which
sites lead to that hang yet.

Crash appears within function HandleIconLoads. I've taken a look at it and noticed that we doesn't check for a NULL pointer before accessing *aRequest. This should be probably a trivial fix.

Damn, comparing aRequest with another pointer doesn't cause it. But the crash should appear within this function.

this function should not nullcheck (at least not in release builds). callers
should not pass null to it.

Still around in Firefox 1.0 RC1, but don't see any in early RC2 Talkback data. Both of those releases went out after the fix in bug 263846, so this crash might not be related as suggested in comment #4. If it is, that fix didn't cover all instances of this crash.

This continues to be a topcrasher for Firefox 1.0. It is currently #12 on the
Talkback topcrash list.

Still seen on FF2 and 1.5 but certainly not a topcrash anymore. None on trunk. TB29252757 TB30115867
