User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1

When I log into gmail, surf around for a bit, close Firefox and then reopen a
bit later I always have to re-enter my username/pw info when I click on my gmail
bookmark. Typically gmail lets you stay autologged in for 2 weeks.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. sign into a gmail account that has been bookmarked in firefox
2. close firefox browser
3. reopen firefox and click the gmail bookmark
4. you will be asked to sign back into gmail

Actual Results:
see above

Expected Results:
Firefox should have taken you directly back into the gmail account rather than
asking you to sign back in.

Reporter: Have you checked the "Don't ask for my password for 2 weeks." checkbox
on the login page?

If this is checked, you should be able to automatically login to Gmail without
entering you username/password again.
This continues to happen despite comment #1 by C.Vance. I always select option
"do not ask for my password for two weeks". Each time I've closed firefox today
and reopened it, clicking on gmail in my bookmarks prompts the sign-in screen.
Chris (the Reporter): after you login, with the browser window still open (don't
close the window after logging in), do you see a cookie set for
gmail.google.com? I see two or three cookies (two in Mozilla, three in Firefox,
not sure about why a difference) set when I allow Gmail to store my password.

You can view your cookies by clicking Tools->Options, then clicking the Privacy
button on the left side of the Options window, then expanding the Cookies area
on the right. Click the View Cookies button to, you guessed it, view cookies.

The checkmark next to "Allow sites to set cookies" should be checked in the main
Options window. Gmail.google.com should NOT be in the list of exceptions for
sites that are not allowed to set cookies.

When you login and tell Google to remember you, does gmail.google.com set some
cookies?

If this does not help, can you create a new profile in Firefox and repeat your
steps to log into Gmail? See

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.
