The calendar can be used as a booking system, but it has a major problem: there
is no way to specify that you do not want any event to overlap on a given calendar.
It would be nice if an event could be specified as "exclusive", so that no other
event could be set at the same time on the same calendar.
An alternative approach that would still be extremely useful would be to have an
"exclusive" flag on a given calendar so that it does not accept overlapping events.

Reporter:
Please take a look at bug 285200. It seems to deal with a similar request
(preventing/notifying of overlapping events), but does so in a bit clearer
terms. Therefore, if you agree that it covers your same request, please mark
your bug as a duplicate of it. If not, please specify what makes yours
distinct.
