Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041014 Firefox/0.10
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041014 Firefox/0.10

If Calendar is hidden while working in other applications, alarm notification is
nonexistant. The little notification screen does pop up in Calendar, but since
it is in the background the notification is not noticed. Alarm notification
needs to pop up no matter what program is in the foreground. This problem is
made worse by the fact that i can't get the alarm sound to work at all. This
problem occurs with both the Calendar XPI running through Firefox, and the
standalone Sunbird.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an event or task
2. turn on alarm notification
3. hide Firefox (or whatever application Calendar is running through)

Actual Results:
No noticeable alarm notification when an alarm is activated. The alarm
notification is not seen until the next time Firefox is maximized.

Expected Results:
visible and audible(if alarm sound is selected) alarm notification should
result, even if Calendar is hidden.
Summary: No Alarm Notification When Firefox is not in the foreground → No Alarm Notification When Calendar is not in the foreground
This works for me using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8a5)
Gecko/20041112 Mozilla Sunbird/0.2b standalone Sunbird application.. but only
for Events, for Tasks - the alarm is never displayed. Reporter, maybe you
should try this build.
I tested Sunbird, but I think I'll have to stick to Outlook because I'm having
this problem too. Specifically I actually close the Sunbird window, because I
don't want it taking up taskbar space. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be
running in the background (which Outlook can do), so alarms don't pop up.
I have the same problem with SunBird 0.2RC1 on Windows XP Pro. Although I have
only have alarms on Events, not on Tasks, but I expect them to react the same
I think this bug is a duplicate of either bug 250137 (always on top function for
alarm window) or bug 134969 (show alarms when Calendar/Sunbird isn't running).
If you agree, please mark it as such.
