User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10.1 After executing change password logic for a password protected web resource, Firefox is not aware of this event and will persistently attempt to use the previously cached credentials indefinitely. It does not listen to the web server's feedback to enter new credentials and then present the user with such an opportunity. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. You'll need access to a web resource that is password protected by the web server. Sorry, I can't share the one I use as it is on an intranet. We use Windows 2000 Server with IIS 5.0, Windows Integrated security only, and the HTR to ASP patches involving ISM2ASP.EXE and IISADMINPWD. 2. We set the windows password to require a change on next login. 3. We then access the protected URL. IIS challenges us for credentials. 4. IIS then redirects us to a change password form. Upon successfully changing the password it then redirects us to a success page with a link to the original password protected URL. 5. Click on the URL, or manually try to go to that protected URL again in another tab or in the same window, doesn't matter. Firefox will then enter an infinite loop in dealing with credentials and will never give the user a chance to change the password. Actual Results: Infinite loop, new page did not load. Expected Results: Upon receiving notification from the web server that the automatically presented credentials are no good, regardless of whether they were previously good in that session, give the user a chance to supply new credentials. Work around: Close all Firefox windows and go back to the protected URL after changing your password. Use the new password. All will work as expected.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
