User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 this behavior is new with firefox 0.10 (first release of 1.0PR). 0.9.3 behaved as expected. the default behavior of firefox is to open a new window when a URL that firefox handles is clicked in another application. the way this used to work is that a new firefox window would be opened with the clicked URL. now, the most recently used firefox window gets the focus and then it spawns a new window which then takes over the focus. what this means is that when you close the new window, the old firefox window has the focus instead of the application from with the link was clicked. this is counterintuitive.
