Allow Pop up windows in preference
Go to Pogo.com
Click on Board games:Chess
Select a Chess room and wait for game room
Click on New Game.

Result.

No Gameboard appears.

I can´t check this bug, as I don´t want to create an account over there.
You forgot to mention that Login is required.

Did you check if all sorts of cookies are allowed, no images blocked?
Do you use extensions?

I find it strange that you would forefet support for the number one web game
site simply because you do not want to create a free acoount. So here goes:
Account: mozillatest55
Password: mozilla

Steps for the CHess game board failure:
1. Allow Pop up windows in preference
2. Go to Pogo.com
3. Click on Board games:Chess
4. Select a Chess room and wait for game room
5. Click on New Game.

Result.
No Gameboard appears.

Expected.
Chess game board should appear. 

I am not convince this is a failure related to the JRE since other mozilla or
gecko based browsers are working as expected. I think the issue is in the popup
blocking code (just a guess). There have been similar gecko bugs in the past...
you can investigate those fixes.
