I'm trying to download/install extensions from
http://update.mozilla.org/extensions. If I click on the install button (e.g. '(
Install Now )') nothing happens. I'm using a manual proxy configuration with
squid proxy.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. View <http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=10>.
2. Click on '( Install now )'
3.

Actual Results:
The browser is loading for a few seconds (hour glass), but nothing else happens.

Expected Results:
The extension should be installed or downloaded.
does the Extensions Manager window pop up? Can you reproduce it with a recent
build, for example 1.0RC2?

I get exactly the same bug. I use win XP. firefox 1.0

the first few extensions i installed worked. They are:

FlashGot, Tabbrowser extensions, ieview, googlebar.

after restart, i can't install any new ones.
Same thing happens as additional comment #2 from Kevin. I'm using WinXP SP2 and
Firefox 1.0. The first extension I downloaded, Yahoo! Toolbar, works great.
Nothing else will download. The extension installer opens, I can see the
application name, but when I click on "install now," I get an error message
saying that it is not proper install package. ???

I am having problems with extensions. I have SuSe 9.0 and my themes work fine.
I go to install extensions and they show up in my extensions manager. But they
stay there forever saying "This item will be installed after you restart
Firefox." Restarting does not help. I tried uninstalling one theme and now its
stuck at "This item will be uninstalled after you restart Firefox." Firefox is
installed at /opt/firefox-installer/firefox

I have recently upgraded to 1.0.2 I am unable to install any extensions. It
appears that nothing is available. I notice that the URI appears to be missing
any specific download file information. I have attached the error that shows
up. It also appears that I am only able to install a new theme if I've only
other than default and delete it before downloading another.

I find a similar problem after upgrading firefox from
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3
to
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
on Fedora Core 2.

The extensions which were installed in Firefox1.0.3 are not shown in the
exentions manager in 1.0.4. Furthermore trying to install a new extension the
the "Software Installation" window opens and then I choose "install now" the
window just closes but not extension is installed.

I have more or less the same problem. I cannot install extensions or themes at
all. If i click on an installable link, the confirmation dialog pops up. Once I
click "Install" the extensions manager pops up, but nothing happens. I've had
extensions installed looooong ago in a previous version of firefox.

I've tried the following allready:
- deleting the profile
- uninstall FF completely
- using the linux 1.0.4 build (instead of the ubuntu linux build I normally use)
- running suid
- running as root, trying to install as root
I have the same problem. Can't even get the extension manager to open. If I
try to update the current extensions, then the manager opens but sometimes it
will just upload all the way to the end of the update then freeze up, other
times I will get the "bad package" message. I use XP SP1. I have tried
everything. Manually deleting all the Mozilla stuff and reinstalling. Using
uninstall and reinstalling Firefox. I even tried deleting the extensions out of
the scripts and regedit and the old extensions still come back when I reinstall
and the problem persists.

I think this is similiar to what Im experiencing. I can't install
themes/extensions. Im using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.10)
Gecko/20050721 Firefox/1.0.6 (Ubuntu package 1.0.6)
Version: unspecified → 1.0 Branch
If you have the SearchPluginHacks extension that allows you to uninstall extensions you can reacivate the non-updated extension by uninstalling and then enabling without restarting.
Is this still a problem with Firefox 1.5?

If you have sessionsaver installed disable it and try it after restarting. All of my functions now work if I disable session saver.
No response and this is WFM for me
