User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1

An easy way to edit the URL in mozilla and netscape used to be
the crtl-k (delete to end of line) and crtl-u delete line to beginning.

This used to be very useful and is absolute standard under unix/linux
and everybody knows and uses these short cuts.

Since this release of firefox it does not work anymore and absolutely
different things happen (these shortcuts seem to be mis-used for other things).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter the the url http://linuxfocus.org/English
2. Go to the E in English and expect that this is removed when typing crtl-k
3. type crtl-k and the curser moves into the google search (in my case) but
the English stays

Actual Results:
I was just shouting loud "who designs somthing like that?"

Expected Results:
Follow the most important standard Emacs/shell keybindings as in earlier
firefox releases (this used to work).
Severity: blocker → normal
this is intentional. since Bug 257405, mozilla respects your gnome pref for
emacs keybindings. in the gnome control center/keyboard shortcuts, set the
dropdown box to "Emacs".
