User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041017 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041017 Firefox/1.0 As of the nightly from Oct 16, 2004, using the find toolbar (and more specifically, find as you type) to navigate (i.e., type to select a link and then press return to follow it) can case the browser to enter a deadlock, where it uses no CPU and I have to use e.g. the Windows Task Manager to kill it. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Visit a web page with a few links, preferably where the links take a little while to load. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/?en-US&act=1 "works" for me. 2. Make sure "Begin finding when you begin typing" is enabled. 3. Type e.g. "Beware" to select a link on the page. 4. Press return, to follow the link. Actual Results: After a short while, the Find Toolbar will time out and close itself. If that happens while Firefox is still waiting for a reply (I'm not sure about the exact timing here though), the browser will deadlock. The throbber stops spinning and the find toolbar doesn't actually disappear. The window close button works, in that it closes the browser window, but the Firefox process is in fact still running and has to be killed manually. I can easily reproduce this with a build from Oct 16 (on a clean, though not freshly created, test profile), but I haven't been able to reproduce it on an Oct 15 build. Expected Results: The Find toolbar should close and Firefox should continue waiting for/loading the link.
I can confirm this, but I suppose it is a dupe of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=264747 .
