User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041016 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041016 Firefox/1.0 Its quite annoying to update firefox since you got to go trough the setup any time you want to install a new build much smarter solution would be a third option with standard custom - UPDATE this new option look at previous installation setting e.g. path shortcuts and stuff then you just hit OK and firefox is installed / updated without 10 useless screens Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: none Actual Results: annoying update installation procedure Expected Results: smart 1 click solution

Reporter, you don't need to create a new profile every time you install a new version. The old one will be used automatically.

I am not talking about the profile ... there is no option for this I mean the windows installation.exe mom ok i made a little pic ... have a look at it ! ... and please no more screens ... this option is only available when firefox is already installed ... so u did already choose if you want to start FF after setup or if you want FF Homepage ... so this on is the first and last step ... the next button will change to a finish button !!! also VERY important to make an unattended setup option !!! e.g. firefox-1.0.en-US.win32.installer.exe -update which updates FF without ANY user input!

The 1.0 update mechanism (handing the user a full installer) was a temporary hack. In the future, the update will be performed like extension updates and not require a full installer wizard at all.
