User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 The keyboard stops working in firefox. This includes any opened tab and any input (Webs ones or FireFox built-in ones, like fast-find or URL input. The only manual fix seems to be open another form, like Options, Bookmark this Page, etc. This seems to happen with ANY dropdown box. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php (tried on another dropdown box and works the same). 2. With the list opened, click on any item with the RIGHT mouse button. 3. When the context menu is opened, click with the LEFT mouse button on ANOTHER list item. Actual Results: Now try to type in any other input from a Web form, or changing the URL, or search something with the fast-find input... you simply cannot type anywhere. Manual fix 1: Open a Firefox form like the "Options" one. Manual fix 2: Switch to another application, when returning to FireFox the focus sets on the URL bar and you can type again. Expected Results: I see three options: 1- Run the "click" event of the drowdown box 2- Just hide the context menu and keep the list opened 3- Just hide the context menu and close the list There seems to be a problem with the firefox focus, as it gets lost somewhere. (Marked this as "Critical" because in some situations it can be VERY dangerous. Some users may feel as frozen and think that closing FireFox is the only solution, and this is not good in bank transactions or when doing special tasks.. or just when having 15 tabs opened) I am using the default theme. I just tried this with three versions: - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10.1 - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a5) Gecko/20041017 Firefox/0.10.1 ^^^--- Strange that this is supposed to be "Nightly" but is reported as 0.9 in the "About" box and also does not have fast-find feature. Maybe my fault? - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 ^^^--- Fresh download

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 I am not sure that I understood your recipe: 1 - What does "another dropdown box mean"? 2 - I am not sure how I get to the state "with the list open" On a Mac (and using a three-button mouse), the page worked for me, but I suspect that I didn't do the steps required to evince this bug.
(In reply to comment #1) > I am not sure that I understood your recipe: > > 1 - What does "another dropdown box mean"? > 2 - I am not sure how I get to the state "with the list open" Well excuse me for my english, I will try to explain that again. 1- With "another dropdown box" I meant that the steps followed also worked on a dropdown box (or dropdown list) from another site, and not specifically that one. This is, the bug is not site-related one, is general for dropdown lists. 2- With "with the list opened" I simply meant that "once the list is displayed"... this is, after clicking on the list, you get the options displayed, in this case, the forums to search in. And another example, brief: In this page you have an option change the bug resolution to... (fixed, invalid, wont fix, etc.). Well 1- Left click on the dropdown, the options display 2- Right click on any item of that list. The right-mouse button context menu opens. 3- Left click on any item of the dropdown list (not the ones on the context menu) 4- *Prize* Whole page input lost. (Cannot change URL, cannot fill forms, etc. on ANY tabs opened) Hope you understood it now. If need further explain, feel free to ask.
Mac OS X 10.3.8 Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Keyboard stops working on Mac OS X - on a per window basis - other windows remain functional. Seen on any web page with an edit box. Mostly occurs after using Yahoo mail for a while. At some point no text or keyboard commands are accepted, and the only work around is to close the window and open a new one. Edit commands are enabled in the menu bar but have no effect, even when text is selected. Haven't tried switching tabs.

(In reply to comment #4) > Mac OS X 10.3.8 > Keyboard stops working on Mac OS X - on a per window basis Are you sure that this is the same problem? Are you able to reproduce with a fresh profile (no extensions)?

It happened to me whenever I click the left button on a window while an new window (popup, download status window...) just popup. Look like an race condition between the old window and the new created window. This thing happened for like 3 or more years, dated before firefox. Very annoying indeed. When you click a file to download, you never know when the 'do you want to save the file?' window will popup. If you happens to click a link in a browsing window at the time when the thing popup, BOMB! you have to close all the windows and restart the firefox. This only happened on linux box, with or without gtk+1/2. No problem with the Windows version. But I use windows rarely Maybe I see another bug?

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050717 Firefox/1.0.6 I'm currently developing an AJAX-like database application at work, and I'm finding this bug cropping up when I'm working with <input> text fields. I'll be tabbing through various input boxes and text areas and I'll leave focus in an input box halfway down the page. Now if I change focus to another application, when I come back to Firefox none of the input boxes will take focus. However I can still select (with the mouse) text areas to enter text, and change selections in <select> list boxes. Incidentally, the recipe for drop-down boxes outlined by the reporter is reproducible here too. The fix mentioned above of opening a Firefox dialog works for me, whereas before I thought the only way to cure it was to close that browser window. It would be useful if this could be fixed soon; my users don't like having the application freeze up whey they switch back to their IM windows!
(In reply to comment #4) I'm using Firefox 1.0.7 on Mac OS X 10.3.9 and I experience the same problem stated on comment #4 For me, it happens mostly when I open a page where I interact with Java Applets. For example, if I play a little bit with the cubes at http://www.beust.com/rubik/ this error is always reproducible.

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051006 Firefox/1.4.1 Also experienced in Firefox 1.5 beta 2 on Mac OS X 10.4.2. I've never experienced this issue on OS X Panther or Tiger, until I began using the 1.5 betas. With beta versions, I am experiencing this problem roughly once every 24 hours now.

(In reply to comment #10) > is this gone for you when using version 3? I tried to reproduce this now in my current version (3.0.5) and wasn't able, so I guess it's gone.
