I receive a lot of email that come from different mailing lists and so I filter them to different folders. All fine. Now I think some menagement of stored messages would be useful. Something like delete messeges older than 7 days. That would also be useful for the Sent and Trash folders. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

(In reply to comment #0) > I think some menagement of stored messages would be useful. Something like > delete messeges older than 7 days. That would also be useful for the Sent and > Trash folders. This would be a very bad idea. Automatic deletion of mail ==> many bug reports about "where is my mail?" There is an automatic delete-after-N-days feature (optional, off by default) for junk messages; you can also configure each account to Empty Trash on Exit. You can create a filter, along the lines of if (Age, greater than, 10 days) Delete message and run that manually on each folder in the account (except for IMAP accounts, bug 177294). See also bug 183714, bug 156500.

actually, this is a dup, and we would like to do something like this, with the default as Off.

(In reply to comment #1) > There is an automatic delete-after-N-days feature (optional, off by default) for > junk messages; you can also configure each account to Empty Trash on Exit. Doesn't apply, because of the way the Junk Mail Controls manu is organized. To eneble delete it after N days I first have to eneble moving to some specific Junk folder. The idea was it stays in where it is, but is deleted after N days (or moved to trash for that matter). Thanks for the link to the other bugs, though. Scheduling of filters is precisely what we need.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
