User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040916 Firefox/0.10
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040916 Firefox/0.10

I am using Solaris 2.8 and CDE.
uname -a = SunOS dev077 5.8 Generic_117350-04 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-1000

1)
Firefox 1.0.PR (maybe also prev. versions) DOES NOT display the Firefox icon
when iconized. It shows the default icon of an iconless application instead.

2) The delivered icon for version 1.0.PR and 0.9.3:
/wwl/FireFox/1.0.pr/firefox/icons/mozicon50.xpm
is not the Firefox icon (blue earth with orange fox,
just simple blue earth instead).

Note: Version 0.9.1 has the correct icon.

WORKAROUND:

According to .../firefox/support/tips.html chapter "Change the window icon"
the problem can be solved by copying the icon from version 0.9.1 to the default
icon location:
/wwl/FireFox/0.9.1/firefox/icons/mozicon50.xpm =>
/wwl/FireFox/1.0.pr/firefox/chrome/icons/default/main-window.xpm

After restarting Firefox iconizing works correctly and shows the correct icon.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Firefox
2.Iconize Firefox
3.

Actual Results:
Default iconless application icon is displaied instead
of the firefox icon.

Expected Results:
Show the Firefox icon.

The wrong icon is delivered for Firefox Versions 0.9.3 and 1.0PR
the original Firefox icon is correct in Firefox Version 0.9.1.

If the iconizing misbehaviour cannot be solved because of OS integration problems
then please deliver the correct icon in the default icon folder
for the Solaris Firefox version.

I like the original Firefox icon, it looks very nice.
Please Note:

Iconizing perfectly works for Thunderbird version 0.8 (200-40917)
installed on the same host and running under the same OS and desktop.
Summary: Firefox icon does not display when iconized. → Firefox icon does not display when iconized.
It's a duplicate of : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171349,
isnt-it ??
Still not fixed for Firefox Version 1.0.2
(Please confirm bug!!!)

Tested download:

5c14c4c7f72b9bce6428cd253b1c40db firefox-sparc-sun-solaris2.8.tar.bz2

Workaround: Copy old icon (0.9.2) to
.../firefox/chrome/icons/default/main-window.xpm

Signature: 8a36537688040e87fb12e0a2bfb552c8 24459 main-window.xpm
Description: Blue earth with orange Fox wrapped around.

Notes:
Signature: 954ab3338fa37124c2bc370a4252dcd7 22346 mozicon50.xpm
Is wrong since Firefox Version 0.9.3 (shows only blue earth without orange fox)
Version 1.0.3 behaves the same as reported before.
Tested release: us-en

d045f7a491f66783dec1da34ba2ce871 firefox-sparc-sun-solaris2.8.tar.bz2
The following versions also show the wrong icon
(Blue Earth WITHOUT orange Fox)

Joke: You may change the name of your Browser from "Firefox" to "Fire".
(Actually "Water" would be more accurate with the current icon.)

previous versions <not tested; removed>
1.0 wrong icon
1.0.1 <not tested; never installed>
1.0.2 wrong icon
1.0.3 wrong icon
The comment for Attachment 182080 [details] should have been:

The following versions also show the wrong icon
(Blue Earth WITHOUT orange Fox)
in the Window opened by "Help - About Mozilla Firefox":

0.9.2 correct icon
... <not tested>
1.0 wrong icon
1.0.1 <not tested; never installed>
1.0.2 wrong icon
1.0.3 wrong icon
Attachments 182080 and 182082 are still inaccurate:

The following versions also show the wrong icon
(Blue Earth WITHOUT orange Fox)
in the Window opened by "Help - About Mozilla Firefox":

0.9.1 correct icon
0.9.2 <don't remember, uninstalled>
0.9.3 <don't remember, uninstalled>
... <not tested>
1.0 wrong icon
1.0.1 <not tested>
1.0.2 wrong icon
1.0.3 wrong icon

I am not shure. But i don't think so.
I am speaking about the main Icon for the application
when Firefox is iconized unser Solaris.
I am NOT speaking about the control icons in the open application.

This is dupe of Bug 171349 and/or Bug 242598.

You said you use firefox-sparc-sun-solaris2.8.tar.bz2 in both comment #3 and #4.
Those builds are GTK1 builds. Please refer readme.
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.0.3/contrib/firefox-sparc-sun-solaris2.8.readme

Bug 171349 is a meta bug, and it covers not only title bar of the application
window, but also task bar icon of Window manager. See also attachment 101543 [details].
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

MD5SUM=
"10943edc66976465e3fac36c6718db6d firefox1.0.7-sparc-sun-solaris2.8.tar.bz2"

Iconized firefox still has default system icon instead of firefox icon.
Can be worked around by:
/wwl/FireFox/1.0.7/firefox/chrome/icons/default/main-window.xpm

Icon in Help is not original Firefox icon, the orange Fox is missing.
I have mailed you the original icon (from an old version) on a previous comment.

Please do not leave UNCONFIRMED because confirmation is by
at least 4 buggy Firefox versions.

People not caring about the correct icon does not make it more correct.

I admit that this is low priority especially because
there is a workaround.

Version: unspecified → 1.0 Branch
Further to comment #9 which addresses the details elaborated in comment #11, this issue should be resolved as of bug 300129. Please report back if it still troubles you for a recent build (1.5.0.x, nightly, etc.). Cheers, Cigno
