User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040922 The flashing cursor-position marking bar (whatever you call it. :) is displayed at the beginning of a text entry box. However, as one types in it, the flashing cursor stays on the left margin. In all other respects text entry works fine.. I just can't never be sure where the cursor really is because it is stuck to the left-hand side of the text input box. I originally submitted this to the gtk folks because I thought it was a gtk bug. However, further testing showed gtk was working fine and I also learned mozilla apparantly doesn't use the gtk textentry stuff stuff anyway. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run Mozilla 2. Click in URL entry box 3. Note cursor is already flashing on the far left 4. Start typing 5. Observe cursor position indicator is stationary. Actual Results: Cursor is still frozen to left-hand side of text input box. Expected Results: Cursor should have moved as I typed. It really makes it hard to use mozilla when the text input cursor is never in the right place.

I root-caused the problem to be using an older version of gcc. Using a newer version resolved the issue.
