More often than I care to admit, I cannot send an e-mail at the present moment
for one reason or another.  The e-mail ends up in the "Sent" folder, but then
comes back with a "The message could not be delivered..." in my inbox.

It is very annoying to have to reopen the original message, copy & paste the
contents, addressee, subject line, attachments, etc. into a new message, and hit
Send again.

I'd be willing to work on a UI implementation to add this feature to Thunderbird.
select the message.
Choose Message | edit message as new (or cntrl E)
press send
