User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10
Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 0.8 (20040913)

When writing a newsgroup post there is no way of browsing the news groups you
are subscribed to to pick a name. Clicking on the little icon to the left of
where the NG name goes does nothing. Nor is there any autocomplete function if
you happen to know the name; you have to type in the full text string such as
"novell.support.netware.5x.administration-tools".

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Startup TB. Click on, say, Local Folders in the left pane. Click on Write. In
the Compose screen change TO: to NEWSGROUP: . The same occurs if you want to add
a second NG name to a post you are making to an existing one, or change the NG
name in a post you are composing.

There is no way of filling out this field other than manually typing in the
whole string.
Actual Results:
You have to manually type in the entire text string such as
"novell.support.netware.5x.administration-tools"

Expected Results:
I expect to be able to browse the subscribed NGs, and have autcomplete work
using them as an alternative.

I guess this might count as an Enhancement request, except the little icon to
theleft of where the NG name goes does nothing. Presumably it is there for a
purpose, so it's either a bug or an intended feature not yet implemented. I can
only say it's a pain in the neck!

BTW, OE allows you to browse the newsgroups you are currently subscribed to and
pick one.
Autocomplete for newsgroup names (while composing) is bug 61491.

It's true the little icon is not useful, for newsgroups or any other headers.

Bug 244213 is about using that icon to open an address book.
