RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 220808

People

(Reporter: richcowan, Assigned: mscott)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; DIL0001021)
Build Identifier: Thunderbird 0.8

I opened an openOffice attachment by double clicking it in Thunderbird and
worked on it for an hour. I saved changes. Then I closed openOffice. Then
opened the attachment again by double clicking. My changes were gone.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. send yourself an openoffice attachment
2 [review]. check mail, open the attachment
3 [review]. make changes, close Open office, try to reopen

Expected Results:
The software should have prompted me, "would you like to make a copy of this
attachment before opening it? If you do not make a copy you will not be able
to make changes." Then if the user clicks on No, Thunderbird would still keep
a pointer to the file so that other apps would consider it to be read-only.
Looks like a dupe of Bug 220808. Please resolve it.
