Steps to reproduce: 1) Go to http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/welcome/ 2) Click 'Install Missing Plugins' 3) Make sure both Flash and Shockwave are selected 4) Hit next, Check 'I agree', hit next again 5) Check 'I agree' 6) Can not select Next to install both plugins
I'm having the same problem, except I already have flash, and I'm only trying to
install shockwave.
-----------------------------------------------------
I click "Install Missing Plugins..."
The "Plugin Finder Service" window appears with the message
"Welcome to the Plugin Finder Service"
"Firefox is now checking for available plugins..."
----------------------------------------------------------------
And it stays stuck like that, until I click cancel.
I could probably install shockwave manually, but I would rather use Firefox's
Plugin service, because it is such a great concept.
Thank you.

I get the same problem just trying to install flash. On Windows XP home edition with "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0"

Confirmed, I have the same problem using a localized (de) version of Firefox 1.0.1. It says "Firefox überprüft ob Plugins zur Verfügung stehen" (translated: Firefox checks if there is a plugin available) and than hangs. The only option is to press "Cancel" (I did wait for 10 minutes but nothing happened). With an english 1.0 I did not have this problem?! I am using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de-DE; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050223 Firefox/1.0.1

(In reply to comment #3) > Confirmed, The same thing happens to me with a localized (mk-MK) Firefox 1.0.1. I've tried on both Windows and Linux, and I've also tried with a itallian Firefox. It seems something is broken in the 'Plugin Search Service' for localized builds. On all the computers this failed, the en-US firefox-1.0.1 didn't have this problem.

Hmm, shouldn't be. According to the logs we get a whole bunch of requests from a whole bunch of locales, and I haven't heard any complaints about it not working from non-en-US locales before. There was a URL redirect problem on our server that's probably been there for about a week or so that prevented Firefox 1.0 users from getting to the PFS, but that was fixed today.
WFM now with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050419 Firefox/1.0+
