User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de-DE; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040914 Firefox/0.10.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de-DE; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040914 Firefox/0.10.1 under Linux SuSE 9.1 using the network printer HP Laserjet 4050N, firefox does not print. More precisely it does create printjobs that are automatically aborded. This normally happends when they include defective PS commands. (printing through lrp or kprinter, paper is set correctly to A4) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. have a HP Laserjet 4050N (or maybe otehr HP PS printer) connected 2. print a page to that printer 3. look into printjob Actual Results: no page comes out job is displayed as aborted Expected Results: print that page
I just ran into almost the same problem (and googling around shows that I am not the only one). It looks like printing to hp printers under linux is broken for both firefox and thunderbird. However, In my case (and in the other cases I saw when googling around) the job completes fine on the linux side. The printer starts to blink and eventually stops to blink without ever printing a single page. It affects *all* HP printers we have (other printers are fine). Moreover, replacing "lpr" by "kprinter" or something similar also fixes the problem. (see also http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2004-May/2217.html) This make firefox a no option for our university;-(
