When I'm expecting a popup ... I'll look in the corner. Maybe the user can miss some usable info? Can happen ofcourse .., but I liked the old way more. You can turn off the yellow information bar by clicking it and selecting "Don't show this message when pop-ups are blocked." You can also get that option by clicking the status bar icon indicating a blocked pop-up.
