I don't know if this is possible for you to implement in Thunderbird but it'd be
nice if you could highlight multiple messages by dragging the mouse (e.g. in
Windows Explorer you can highlight multiple files).
I'm an extension writer ( http://fireftp.mozdev.org ) and in my program I've
been able to implement this through Javascript. If you're interested in
creating this enhancement for Thunderbird, I recommend downloading the extension
and trying it out. The source code can be found here:
