I tried installing Firefox on my Linux box with two different methods:

CD obtained by mail, marked Firefox 1.0 Preview Release

Download from mozilla.org (10/23/2004)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Insert CD or download zipped up tar file
2.cd to directory containing installer program
3.Run intsaller program
4. change installation directory to (e.g.) /export/home/bob/tools/firefox
5. Installer complains (sic) "Can't open xpistub library" in dialog box
6. Installation ceases

Actual Results:  
Firefox not installed

Expected Results:  
Should have installed Firefox

I am running RH 8.1 Linux with standard libraries ( no alterations)

Ok, so what is the resolution? I read _part_ of 246173, mostly others indicating
the same problem on other platforms.
