User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 I uninstalled all PDF software from my computer (I had Acrobat Pro and Reader 6). Basically, the download goes along like normal, and when it hits 100%, the titlebar of the download box says "Downloads" and stops diplaying the percent, but nothing else seems to happen. The file is not put in the directory where it is supposed to go (this occures for both auto and ask me download options), the "pause" and "cancel" links are still there for it, and the download rate (Kb/sec) is still displayed. The file is never saved into the directory it is supposed to go into. No other file types seem to have this problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Remove all PDF software from your computer. 2. IN google, search for "pdf" 3. Click on a link that is a pdf, and watch download take place but never finalize. Actual Results: File is not saved on my computer. Expected Results: Save the figgin file! I unistalled the PDF software because opening a PDF would just have a blank window. Choosing "view source" would display the source of the PDF, but the plugin was not launched, and no download option was given. Interestngly, the above problem happened in both IE and Firefox. After Uninstalling Acrobat though, IE downloads the PDFs as an unknown filetype, but firefox will not finalize the downloading.

When I click on a link that is a PDF file, acrobat opens and then the browser crashes (freezes with just the title bar of the browser and the rest is a blank white screen. I have to ctrl-alt-del to end the firefox program. I cut and pasted the same page in IE and when I clicked the PDF file, it worked perfectly. This is reproducible for any pdf file so I am not citing a particular web page.
I have the same problem with pdfs using Firefox on GNU/Linux. I am able to save the links fine if I "save target as". I think the screenshot explains it better than I am able to.
I too had this problem on FreeBSD. However I found that I had an empty "action-on-download" associated with pdf files and all pdf files downloaded correctly after I removed that action-on-download. I dont recall ever creating any special actions for pdf downloads. Either I created it accidentally sometime or it may have been shipped with Firefox as some broken default setting. I suggest you check your own settings, in Edit-Preferences-Downloads-FileTypes and remove any suspect rules specific to pdfs.

(In reply to comment #4) > I suggest you check your own settings, in Edit-Preferences-Downloads-FileTypes > and remove any suspect rules specific to pdfs. Thanks! This worked for me. The PDF file action was pointing to Adobe Reader 6.0. I changed it to point to Adobe Reader 7.0 (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe), and now it works perfectly.
