I am the developer / technical person for the South African translations
including Xhosa, Zulu, Afrikaans, Northern Sotho, etc.
We already have localized mozilla into a number of languages
I would like a CVS account so we can begin working on localization of firefox,
thunderbird etc

I can vouch for your CVS access once there is a translation ready to commit.
Please attach ZIPs of toolkit/browser here so that I can review them.
Translations are still pending...
Please take a look at the trademark policies and the recent postings in 
n.p.m.l10n, too.

From the bug report, I'm not sure if you're targetting 1.0, could you clear that
up?

I would like to get CVS access before the whole translation is complete but
Benjamin told me on IRC that current policy is to only allow CVS access once it
is complete. That's why I haven't submitted the translations yet. 

This doesn't make sense to me because it means I need to set up a separate CVS
repository to track translations in the mean time.

We have tools (translate.sf.net) to use PO files to do translation and I am
interested in getting the process working correctly with these tools. It makes
it a bit difficult not being able to use CVS to test.

We have translated Mozilla and are migrating the translations across, so we are
not targetting a 1.0 release tomorrow, so I guess this will wait until all that
work is over.

And finally, yes, I have read the trademark policies and the recent postings in
the newsgroup.
David: Did you ever send in the CVS form (www.mozilla.org/hacking/form.html)?

confirm receipt of the fax?
Form received. Have you gotten someone to review your request, and is there a
translation ready to commit? 
David, the work on porting the localisation scheme over to the trunk for 1.1 is
progressing nicely.
Would working on an anonymous check-out for your initial tree work for you?
We would prefer to not open the gates to CVS for project-to-be. This is much more
an issue in the general scope than in your particular case.
Axel, we actually have translations ready, so it is no longer project-to-be status.

Note: I have run compare-locales.pl on the toolkit and browser directories, with
no error, on the tag AVIARY_1_0_20040515_BRANCH, updated today (20050217)
Not sure if I need changes to the files that aren't compared though, but at
least the translations all seem to pass
Also ran on the AVIARY_1_0_1_20050124_BRANCH with no errors, on 2005-02-17

Apologies for the mistake, the previous file was converted incorrectly.
I have now attached a file that I have checked contains the translations.
I have also checked and the non-dtd/properties files have not yet been changed
correctly, so I will investigate them in the meantime (e.g. define.inc, etc)

1) browser/defines.inc - please, create your own EID (uuidgen on linux, and
botbot on #mozilla is your friend here) and set own CREATOR
2) translate toolkit/defines.inc
3) whole installer files are in English (toolkit/installer and browser/installer)
4) toolkit/autoconfig in english also

Check the whole with compare-locales at the end, and you're ready :)
Just for information:
Have converted the remaining files that needed translation to PO format so our
translators can work on them, will repost here when done.
Also have Afrikaans in the works.
Hard copy of CVS Form  has been received.
The Afrikaans team beat the Xhosa team.
Attached is what should be a complete translation for Afrikaans,
check-locales.pl returning no errors.
Also the defines files and installer files have been translated.
Please review...
