I can confirm this bug. I have a Fujitsu P5010D laptop as well as a Dell 600m laptop that both have Alps touchpads. Under the mouse settings in the Windows Control Panel, there is a "gestures" section that allows back/forward functionality using the top edge of the touchpad. This functionality works fine in IE and WindowsXP. However, it does not in Firefox 1.0. I believe this bug is also related to bug number 245302 which deals with left/right scrolling. The same mouse settings allow the use of the right and bottom edges for up/down and left/right scrolling, respectively. Only up/down works in Firefox 1.0 while left/right does not (even though it does in IE and WindowsXP).
I can confirm this bug. I have a Packard Bell iGo 3000 series(model 3203) laptop with an NEC NX touchpad.
(In reply to comment #2) > I can confirm this bug with one difference. I have a Sony Vaio PCG-V505DC2P with an Alps touchpad. Backward actually works with right-to-left action, but left-to-right action causes the browser to go backwards one page instead of forwards.
I can also confirm this bug. I have the following: - Dell Latitude D600 laptop - ALPS touch pad - Windows 2000
most likely a driver problem - see comments in bug 56892
I see the same problem with my Compaq Presario V2000. When I try to track, I get the icon that looks like a mouse over a scroll bar (just like in an other application), but it doesn't track my movements. Please fix this.
Going back to IE cause I can't use the Back slider on my Alps Touchpad.
(In reply to comment #5) > most likely a driver problem - see comments in bug 56892 > The comments in bug 56892 do not appear to address the ALPS Touchpad mouse, plus it references only those users with Netscape. I previously used only Internet Explorer (no Netscape download at all), and I also do not have the Synaptec mouse referenced in bug 56892 (have ALPS Electric Touchpad that comes with Dell Latitude D600). I did complete a search on my entire hard-drive looking for any ".ini" file containing anything which looked like a driver issue where I could insert the text, "Mozilla" (WT = "X") without any luck. (FYI - this was the suggestion in bug 56892.) Help
I confirm this bug. I have Acer Travelmate 290 with Alps TouchPad (drivers 5.4....) with Windows XP Sp2.
