After a series of events, typing text into a text field will bring up the 'find
as you type' search. When this happens, the text you type in the text field is
no longer assigned to the text field, but starts a find as you type session. The
reproduction below is the shortest series I could get to reproduce. It seems to
be specifically related to having used the McMaster Carr web site some time
during the session, but the bug occurs outside the McMaster site.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open http://www.mcmaster.com
2. Search for "autoclave"
3. When the search results come up, click on "Autoclave"
4. Open a new tab and go to http://www.coleparmer.com (this site just needs to
have a text input box)
5. Search for "iron"
6. Return to the McMaster tab, replace the search text with "rack" and start the
search.
7. Return to the Cole Parmer tab and start typing " oxide" in the text field

Actual Results:  
As you type " oxide", the find as you type dialog comes up, starting to search
for " oxide" (or however far you got in typing).

Expected Results:  
The text " oxide" should be entered in the text field.

This worked both before and after upgrading to XP SP2. It also ocurred in
earlier versions of Firefox.

WFM.  Sounds like a dup of bug 124750, which was fixed recently.  Please retest
in branch nightly, or in Firefox 1.0 RC1 when it comes out tomorrow.  If this
problem still exists, please reopen the bug.

I have experienced this frustrating problem many a time, although I have not
been able to determine a set of steps with which to reproduce it. The steps
indicated below did not reproduce the bug for me. But I can at least add my
input that the bug *does* occur and further examination is called for.

Someone with sufficient power ought to re-open this bug.

Tomalak, I think you're hitting bug 258285.  This bug was reported against an
older build of Firefox and is consistent with being a dup of bug 124750.
