when i start up firefox, the home page, USA Today, loads.  but then the
scrolling gets sluggish and the hard drive continues to work in the background
as if firefox is still booting.   the spinning wheel in the upper right hand
corner of the firefox window is not moving, and the word "done" appears at the
lower left corner.    no other apps do this.
