Details
With a fresh unzip and profile of 'Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041026 Firefox/1.0RC1' the first startup with the dialog box (one that asks if you'd like to make firefox default browser) The window is not maximized...to me this is an very ugly bug and reminds me of how IE can never stay maximized, would look bad to ship 1.0 with this problem. I can confirm this on 5 other computers (my 2 house computers and 3 computers at college) all running XP SP2. 2 of the computer are running at 1280*1024 resolution and other 2 are running at 1024*960 resolutions. All the computer are using different graphics card (1-ATI 9800pro, 1-ATI 9600XT, 3-some intel on-board)
First let me just say that the combination of trivial severity and a request to
block Firefox 1.0 is a strange one.
Second, this bug's description does not contain enough information to reproduce
it. My interpretation (A and B are arbitrary but different):
1) Launch Firefox from directory A
2) In Tools -> Options -> General, ensure that it is your default browser
3) In about:config, set the pref browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser to true
4) Maximize the browser window
5) Exit Firefox
6) Unzip a nightly build, Gecko/20041026 Firefox/1.0RC1 into directory B
7) Run that nightly
-- Firefox launches and shows an unmaximized browser window, the
"Firefox is not your default browser" alert on top
Third, WFM using a Gecko/20041102 Firefox/1.0RC2 build. Please try to specify
the conditions of your bug more thoroughly. Does it happen if you precede my
steps to reproduce with a new profile? If this is caused by something unique to
your profile, the odds that a developer will be able to reproduce the bug are
slim. Can you pin down what in your profile is causing the problem?> 6) Unzip a nightly build, Gecko/20041026 Firefox/1.0RC1 into directory B
> 7) Run that nightly
> -- Firefox launches and shows an unmaximized browser window, the

Thats what i did with a completly new profiles on all 5 computers i unzipped
firefox onto.
I donno why you mentioned the first 5 steps because this bug occurs on first
start. Not after i install, run, set to maximize and restart firefox. only on
first run with nothing related to firefox on the hard drives (no prior installs
and no old profiles).

we can't gauarantee installations that don't happen with the installer. If I understand this bug right it doesn't happen if you us the installer. renominate if I didn't get this correctly.
Flags: blocking-aviary1.0? → blocking-aviary1.0-
