in the buglist and the detailed bug description, I found "Last modified:" dates
that were newer than the last added comment.

Last modified: 2002-07-02 13:05 PDT
The last comment was (on 2004-10-28):

Click the "View Bug Activity" link on that bug and you'll see it really did get
modified when the Last Modified field says it did.  Adding comments isn't the
only thing you can do to modify a bug.
