Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041026 Firefox/1.0RC1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041026 Firefox/1.0RC1

I had previously installed FF 1.0 PR (on Windows 2000) from scratch and today
took the steps at http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/qa/softwareupdate.html
to test the update feature. I changed app.update.url to the new value and
clicked the "Check Now" button. It popped up the window saying 1.0 RC1 was
available and I chose to install it. After it downloaded, it asked me a few
questions, successfully installed, and told me to restart FireFox.

After updating, I closed and restarted FireFox and got a popup window with the
message:
Code:
XML Parsing Error: undefined entity
... update.xul
Line 217, Column 24

After closing that window, I got another popup window with the message:
Code:
XML Parsing Error: undefined entity
... browser.xul
Line 910, Column 33

After closing the second window, FireFox just quit without showing anything
else. FireFox never came up after this and now only gave me the second popup
window each time I tried to run it.

I then renamed the FireFox app folder and ran the actual FF 1.0 RC1 installer
(used my old profile) and it works fine. Someone else reported the same error on
Windows XP. Here is the original MZ thread:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=152122

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:
"XUL Parsing Error" dialog boxes pop up

Expected Results:
FireFox opens
Flags: blocking-aviary1.0?
Summary: 1.0 PR -> 1.0 RC1 update test xul parsing error → 1.0 PR -> 1.0 RC1 update test xml parsing error
Just the same case, but my OS is Win98SE.
