(Whiteboard: CLOSEME 09/09 (INCOMPLETE)?)

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0

As in any browser, once a site, or multiple sites have been visited, the
forward and back buttons will go back or jump to the visited sites
respectively. These buttons are constantly disabled, thus their function is nil

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Execute Firefox Browser
2. Buttons are disabled; visit 2-5 websites, buttons remain disabled

Actual Results:
Forward/Back buttons fail to function, they remain disabled

Expected Results:
Buttons should operate as designated, forward/back between sites
Please retest in safe mode, this is, as like the other bugs you reported, WFM,
RC1, WinXP

Reporter: What is your Firefox Agent String. You entered this bug through IE, so
you are going to have to provide us with that seperatly.

You can do this by clicking on Help-> About, then highlight the bottom line of
text, and copy and paste it into a comment on this bug. It should look somthing
like this:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041030
Firefox/1.0RC2

You may be experencing Bug 237866. Without your Firefox AgentID I'm not able to
tell if you are using a version before that bug was fixed.

You can also try download a newer version from
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-0.11/ and see if
you still experence the problem
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041026
Firefox/1.0RC1
upgrading from both the PRrc, and RC1, to the nightly build "Mozilla/5.0
(Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041101 Firefox/1.0RC2"
still generates all the posted errors.
just to be clear, you are *not* using tabs, ie. you left-click the links?
Do you have any extensions installed?
If the browser is tabber, or isn't, buttons don't work. Also, no extensions are
installed. Now using the PRrc version, anything above seems to have the same
problems
I am having the exact same problem, however I am having it on OSX and have had it since the 1.0
release. Same with the nightly builds. It is like FireFox is never updating the back/forward buttons,
and the history remains blank. Will start a new bug # for the OSX version.
This happened to me after upgrading to version 1.06. Since then, back-grading to
older versions doesn't help - "back/forward" are permanently disabled!

Another "symptom" that emerged along with this one - the URL won't get updated
as I click on a link.. it'll statically list the last manual entry of a URL, not
the actual page currently shown - e.g. if I typed in "www.mozilla.org", then
surfed on from there, the url will still list the mozilla URL.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050824 Firefox/1.6a1
ID:2005082407

my back - forward - refresh - stop - home icons are greyed out and inoperative

i have to navigate via sidebar bookmarks and the "go" button
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7

Happens when a link is clicked on in Thunderbird.
Happens with the 'open in new window' item in the right click context menu.

If a page is opened using either of these method and then a further link is clicked on in the current page then:

The back button is not enabled (stays ghosted and does not turn green).
The history drop down (between the 'back' and 'forward' history arrows) remains ghosted and does not turn green.
The 'Ctrl+c' history menu is updated.

So the hisory is updated but the navigation icons are not enabled. Strange.
