Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1

When I click on a 'mailto' link in Firefox, a thunderbird window is not opened
automatically if a thunderbird session is already active. In this case it
prompts for a new thunderbird to be opened with a different profile. It should
be possible to open a thunderbird window automatically with the same profile
name that is being used by an active session of thunderbird.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. run thunderbird
2. Click on any link to a 'mailto:blah@blah.blah'
3.

Actual Results:
I am prompted to open a thunderbird session with a profile name different from
that currently being used by thunderbird.

Expected Results:
it should have automatically opened a thunderbird compose window with the same
profile that is already in use.
This is to report somewhat different but likely related symptoms. When I click
on a mailto link in Firefox it opens Evolution instead of Thunderbird, even
though I have set mozilla-thunderbird as the KDE default email application,
which works to launch a Thunderbird compose window if I click on a mailto link
in any other application I've tried except Firefox, which doesn't seem to pick
up on the KDE default settings, but reverts to the defaults that came with the
original Fedora installation before I set the current user desktop to KDE. The
symptoms I am here reporting are not dependent on whether Thunderbird is already
running or not.
Duplicate of bug 273071?
I´ve the problem which Jon Roland reported, too. Thunderbird opens its links in firefox (I don´t know how, I´ve set the KDE web browser to firefox but I don´t think Thunderbird looks for KDE settings) but firefox doesn´t open mailto links in thunderbird.
Perhaps some developers haven´t relized that there´s now a "native" mail client and you don´t have to use the gnome one yet *ggg

Yeah, I'm going to dupe this up to bug 273071 per comments 1 through 3.
