I am a programmer/Test Engineer/Quality Engineer and this system is total Nerd BS! We know you think you are smart, now prove it by offering a reporting option that doesn't require visitors to be nerds in your private clique!!!!! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to enter a simple bug report. 2. 3. Actual Results: Totally obscure options and menus. Expected Results: Simple user-friendly options and selections.

For "Normal" users the Interface should offer an "option" to use the full Bugzilla system otherwise: (assuming the system gathers the users OS, Mozilla version, etc) My Problem is with (Browser,Email,Plugins?): Please enter Details of your problem: My email address is:

This really supports my bug! Total BS consideration of serious input about Bugzilla!
i don't want private mail. this isn't hard. please fill in the template you provided in comment 2 with real input. if you have more than one issue, then pick one. in order to do something with your suggested template, we need to see how it would work in action, which means you need to provide sample input which we could actually put through a qa triaging process.

There is currently work going on to build a few different forms to use for different types of bug reporting which will be easier to use (and more obvious what's needed) than the existing ones. I believe (though I haven't heard any details recently) that we're expecting to have them deployed not-too-long after Firefox 1.0 ships. All I've seen is blog posts from several prominent folks about it though, I can't track down any bugs in Bugzilla about them. Myk probably knows more about it than I do.
Sample input: For "Normal" users the Interface should offer an "option" to use the full Bugzilla system otherwise: (assuming the system gathers the users OS, Mozilla version, etc) My Problem is with (Browser,Email,Plugins?): Email Please enter Details of your problem: Installed 1.8a4 after uninstalling 1.73. All emails in Inbox gone. Reverted to 1.73. All emails in Inbox had correct title, but exact same garbage content from a single email. Again installed 1.8a4, once again all emails gone from Inbox. Reverted to 1.73. Same problem My email address is: neal@w7pys.us

LB: The closest we have to what you want is: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?format=guided which is the simplest form we've been able to come up with that still prompts for all the information commonly needed. Any suggestions on how to simplify that form would be gratefully received, but perhaps in another bug with a less inflammatory title. Gerv

well, the system can't gather the user's version of a mail client. as it happens we have 3 mail clients that someone might complain about. i'm sure all three of them are good at eating mail. actually, if you count all of the gecko web browsers that do mail, and people do complain about our web browsers eating mail, we'd end up with closer to 7 or so. i don't see how you couldn't have filled out the form that resulted in comment 0 w/ what you filled into the form from comment 2.

gerv@mozilla.org: your advice is fairly silly given that it's perfectly clear from comment 0 that the reporter *was* using guided.
