FF already supports setting the HD cache directory, and I hope it will be possible to set the location of the "history" file to enable e.g. USB versions like PortableFirefox to have at least a localized history without having to write to the USB drive. The same could be done for cookies, form information, etc.

That's normally done with the profile. For Windows, it's more or less a dupe of bug 74085. PortableFirefox has more problems, and might indeed need to store some parts of the profile in different locations than others.

This is a profile location thing, we're not going to do per-file prefs anymore.
