User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9 Clicking "Normal (video only)" tries to resize the window. THis does not work with the default settings in Javascript. This seems an important feature, to be able to make the BBC player as small as possible, and made me view in IE so I could see it as I wanted. I would have thought this had been discussed at length in bugzilla, apologies if it has, cannot find anything on search. Suggest that web-page spawned windows can be resized by Javascript. I completely agree that no site should be able to resize my own windows, but if the site has spawned it I am happy that it has this control in this "sandbox" of its own window. I argue that in this situation the user expects the site to manage its own window, and a failure to allow this makes Firefox look unprofessional. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to news.bbc.co.uk 2. Open the video console 3. Click "Normal (video only") Actual Results: Layout changes, window size does not change. Expected Results: Window size changes I appreciate this is perhaps an opinion-based matter, and apologies if it has been covered before, but IMHO Firefox appears incorrect to a user using default prefs by not allowing what in a sense is a basic "web app" ability.
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. I have also noticed this bug since upgrading from 1.0.7 to 1.5b1 when trying to resize windows with my own JavaScript on my website. Another URL to see this problem is http://alan.tip2tail.co.uk/photos.php?albumid=1 Chick on any of the photos there and it will popup a window that should resize to the image width and height (plus a bit for the description). It did in 1.x but not in 1.5b1. It also works in IE. Is this bug getting worked on? Mark D Young tip2tail design
