I have all my mail on a "local" (same machine, typically) imap server.

I'd like to do away with caching for such servers completely (the server should
be fast enough).

Are there any problems that would occur because of this? Performance issuses ...?

Ideally, mozilla backend features would become a part of IMAP protocol
extensions that would allow for a more efficient server side implementation
(searching, virtual folders, threading, ...)
you mean don't cache the headers in the .msf file? There is a request for that
out there somewhere, I believe.

I'd suggest to close this as incomplete. The initial description is rather
fuzzy and the "dupeme" entry based on the interpretation in comment #1 what
it *could* mean...
